Dozens of D.C. residents lined up to testify Wednesday about their experiences and fears related to immigration enforcement and what many said they see as Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Metropolitan Police Department’s cooperation.

“Muriel Bowser has a moral and civic obligation to protect all Washingtonians. We are done being afraid, and we want answers,” one person said to applause.

Later that afternoon, at a ribbon-cutting event in Chevy Chase, News4’s Mark Segraves asked Bowser about residents who are upset with her handling of federal Immigration enforcement.

“Well, I just talked to a lot of residents here. Nobody told me that they were upset with me. In fact, what they told me is, ‘Thank you, mayor, for your leadership during unprecedented times,’” Bowser said in part.
