I Thought My Mother-in-Law Babysitting Once a Week Was a Blessing—Until I Saw What Was Really Happening 😨
Hi, I’m Martha. My husband Jason and I work full-time, so our 4-year-old daughter, Beverly, normally spends her days at daycare.
About a month ago, Jason’s mom, Cheryl, offered to babysit Bev on Wednesdays at our place. “It’ll be good for her to spend time with Grandma,” she said. It felt like a win.
But then Bev’s behavior changed.
She started saying odd things like,
“I only want to eat with Daddy, Grandma… and her friend.”
When I asked who she meant, she just smiled.
Another night, she whispered,
“Why don’t you like Grandma’s friend, Mommy?”
And then, in a voice that didn’t sound like her own,
“She’s part of the family now. You’ll see.”
When I asked Cheryl, she laughed it off—“kids and their imaginary friends.”
Still, something didn’t sit right.
I dusted off an old nanny cam and set it up.
On Wednesday, I checked the video during lunch.
Everything looked normal until Cheryl said,
“Our friend will be here soon, sweetheart.”
Bev was excited:
“Will she do my hair again?”
