Family Statement
For Immediate Release
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Gaby La’Dine Fraser, on January 2, 2026. Gaby served as the Equal Employment Opportunity, Union Advocate Officer for the National Association of Special Police and Security Officers for more than a decade.
As President of the Metropolitan Women’s Democratic Club (MWDC), Gaby passionately advocated for social justice, education, and women’s rights. Her commitment to these causes inspired countless individuals to engage with their communities and work towards positive change, embodying the spirit of founder Ethel L. Payne, the First Lady of the Black Press.
Throughout her remarkable life, Gaby made a lasting impact through her dedication to Parents Amplifying Voices in Education (PAVE) and her involvement as Corresponding Secretary with Ward 7 Democrats. She also served as a campaign organizer for several DC council members, including the Honorable Kenyan McDuffie and the Honorable Vincent Orange, Sr., and was a steadfast supporter of Madam Mayor Muriel Bowser. We find comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
We kindly request privacy during this difficult time as we mourn the loss of our extraordinary mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
For inquiries, please contact Gaby’s sister, Canise Robertson, at 202-286-8571.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Sincerely,
The Family of Gaby La’Dine Fraser
