Nigeria's gov't concerned over increased Russia's influence in the protests.
Some protesters have been seen wielding Russian flags as they demonstrate in various states in Nigeria.

Authorities in the country have termed the act treasonous to the country's sovereignty.

The Russian embassy in Nigeria has distanced itself from allegations that it is influencing the demos.

Protests against economic hardship have persisted in several Nigerian states despite the president calling for an end to the demonstrations that have faced a crackdown from security forces.

At least 13 people have been reported dead in the protests which began on Thursday against the West African nation’s worst cost-of-living crisis in a generation and against the corruption and alleged bad governance that have stifled its development.

Nigerian security forces have been accused of using excessive force in the protests.

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu met with security chiefs in Abuja's capital. A curfew was declared in northern Kaduna state — the sixth state to take such a measure since the protests began — after reports of looting.

The cost-of-living crisis is fueled by surging inflation, at a 28-year high, and government economic policies that have pushed the local currency to record lows against the dollar.

Tinubu on Sunday said his government was committed to addressing citizens' concerns. But he provided no plan, according to the Lagos-based SBM Intelligence research firm.

A few protesters were seen waving Russian flags over the weekend and again on Monday in northern Nigeria, whose population is among the worst affected. The Russian embassy in Nigeria denied any responsibility, saying in a statement that the flags are personal choices of the protesters and “do not reflect any official position or policy of the Russian Government.”

The Russian flags being waved constitute treason and would be treated as such, Nigeria's military chief Christopher Musa said after meeting with Tinubu.

Pro-Russian sentiments have been growing in parts of West Africa, where Moscow is increasingly welcomed by militaries that have staged coups and severed ties with the West. One is in Nigeria’s northern neighbor, Niger, where French and American troops have been asked to leave and Russia has been chosen as a new security partner.

On Sunday, Tinubu warned protesters not to let “the enemies of democracy use you to promote an unconstitutional agenda” in Nigeria, which currently holds the rotational chairmanship position of West Africa’s regional bloc.

Nigeria's secret service said it had apprehended some tailors in northern Kano state it said were responsible for making Russian flags being distributed in the area. It said an investigation was ongoing.

For every N100 made in revenue by Nigeria before the emergence of President Tinubu, we were using N97 to service debts. Most of those debts were unfortunately expended on subsidy payments among other frivolous loans while infrastructure, human capital development and others suffered.

That is no more the case as the various ongoing reforms have reduced that deficit to N68 per N100.

This 29% reduction will allow for more government spending on capital projects and human capital which are critical in spurring economic growth, delivering jobs and reducing poverty.

Also great to note, as confirmed by HM Wale Edun, that Nigeria’s total debt both domestic and foreign dollar-denominated debt fell from $181 million to $98 million which is attributed to timely payments to contractors and the government’s exit from the Ways and Means financing scheme.

While these reforms came with temporary pains, we must agree that they are necessary for our overall survival as a nation to remain stable and avoid the looming “financial “crash”.

Sooner or later we will come to appreciate the great job Mr President has embarked upon.

As usual, we will be there🥂🤝.

My dear brother Paul,
Just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes. In your recent interviews, you claimed that you wrote and sang 99% of all P-SQUARE songs and discredited me by saying that our song with TI "EjeaJo," which I wrote, was a failure. You went as far as using the YouTube views to discredit me once again.
You never acknowledged the other songs like "Get-Squared," "Bizzy Body," "Personally," "Roll It," "Temptation," "Alingo," "More than a Friend," "Shekini," "Say Your Love," "Gimme Dat," "Senorita," "IGBEdu," and a few others. Were these songs also considered failures as well?

Every time I have spoken in interviews about P-SQUARE, I have always used "we" and "us" because I saw us as a team. But whenever you speak, it’s always "I" and "me," even when I’m standing right beside you. It’s as if I never existed.
My brother, neither of us is the most talented artist in the world, but you fail to understand that God gave us this talent and even granted us another chance to excel after our last breakup. Instead, you chose to turn the most awarded and decorated music group in Africa into a laughingstock again.

One thing you need to understand clearly is that the fans didn’t fall in love with P-SQUARE because of who sang or danced the most. What made us special was the magic that came from our combined effort - us two! P-SQUARE was a force, and the fans fell in love with P-SQUARE because of our uniqueness and unity. We both have talent, no doubt, and I have often praised you in our interviews for your songwriting ability. I have also praised anyone who has ever written a song for us or even for me as Mr. P. But instead of showing gratitude for my kind words, you seem to find satisfaction in rubbing it in my face, forgetting that it is by God’s grace that we have come this far.

Rather than joining forces with me to reclaim our number 1 spot in the music industry, you chose to team up with Jude to claim the number 1 spot in the P-SQUARE group, always looking for opportunities to marginalize and humiliate me.
You are always claiming to be P-SQUARE’s songwriter, composer, producer, singer, backup vocalist, in fact you are everything including P-SQUARE’s video director, band, promoter, manager, even the choreographer. You are the Author and Finisher of P-SQUARE! In fact, I dash you 100% of everything instead of the 99% you claim.
I blame myself for not responding to your tweet claims in April 2015 that you wrote and sang all of P-SQUARE’s songs. I didn’t respond to these false claims for the sake of peace, as advised by family and friends, and now I am paying dearly for it.
So, my brother, let me ask you: Is Rudeboy or Mr P bigger and more successful than P-SQUARE today? Are we individually selling out arenas and stadiums like P-SQUARE used to? Are we topping world music charts with our songs as solo artistes?

Do we command crowds and entertain massive audiences like P-SQUARE?
I often find myself wondering, what do you truly gain by constantly disrespecting and belittling me all the time. You have disrespected my wife, disrespected my family, disrespected my talent, disrespected my ideas, and even sided with Jude when he was clearly trying to oppress me. Now, it feels like you have taken it even further by trying so hard to turn the fans against me by making them believe I’m jealous of you.
You have been doing everything for the fans to hate me, but guess what? They will never hate me; instead, they will hate us both because we have disappointed and failed them.
I hope you are happy now. I genuinely wish you nothing but the best, bro! As for those who believe these lies and false narratives and come to my page to drop negative comments, I understand because you have been fed the wrong narrative for a long time. Please allow me to focus and do my music in peace.
As for the EFCC matter,

I will address it before the end of today. Stay tuned! Peace✌🏾

PETER OKOYE.

A rare portrait of madam Hannah Afálà (Samuel Àjàyí Crowther's mother).

Aláàfin Abiodun Adegorolu succeeded Aláàfin Ajabo, a powerful monarch of his time. Aláàfin Abiọdun gave birth to a girl child named Oṣù, Oṣù grew up to become the mother of Olámínigbìn, who in turn became the husband of Omo-oga-egun, together they gave birth to Ibisomi Telerinmasa.

Telerinmasa was said to be possessed with a special dignity which was known among her people as "Afala" (the one who loves purity or the pure one) signifying the princess or priestess of the great god Obatala (the white cloth god). Ọbàtálá's province is believed to be a sphere of absolute and dazzling purity.

Afala married a man whose name was also given as Ajayi from the Edu clan, his grandfather was the Baale of Awaiye-petu, who relocated to the Òyó empire from Ketou (now part of Benin Republic).

Afala parted with her lovely son, when he was just 12 after their town, Oshogun, near Isheyin, was invaded by Fulani slave traders in about 1821. As a passionate mother, she waited patiently for the day she will surely meet her son again.

They finally reunited during Àjàyí's missionary sojourn in Abẹ́òkúta after slavery had separated them for decades.

Madam Afala was later baptized by her own son and was given the name Hannah on February 5, 1848 at Abeokuta. Madam Hannah and some other relatives moved in with the Bishop at Abeokuta where she lived to be over a hundred years old.

Irulas Tribe:

Irula tribe is a Dravidian ethnic group settling in the state of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
In the Tamil language, the Irula means "people of darkness." This could refer to their dark-coloured skin or since all important events of the tribe traditionally took place in the darkness/night.
A study conducted by Yelmen et al (2019) found that the Irula people were the closest likely proxy for the indigenous Ancient Ancestral South Indian, one of the presumed founder and autochthonous original Indian populations.

The DNA analysis (2018) of a skeleton from the Indus Valley Civilisation found in Rakhigarhi showed a greater association with the Irula people than any other modern ethnic group in India.

According to the Census 2011, the tribe population is around 200,000;
189,621 in Tamil Nadu
23,721 in Kerala
10,259 in Karnataka.

The people of the Irula tribe are called Irular and they speak the Irula language, which belongs to the Dravidian family.
They are categorised under scheduled tribes.

Irular believes in life after death.
In general, the Irula are Hindu, but many of them have retained their own tribal beliefs that revolve around the spirit world.
Traditionally, the main occupation of the Irulas has been snake, rat-catching and honey collection.

They also work as labourers in the fields of the landlords during the sowing and harvesting seasons or in the rice mills.
Fishing and cattle farming is also major occupation.

Rats destroy a quarter of the grain grown on Tamil Nadu-area farms annually. To combat this pest, Irula men use a traditional earthen pot fumigation method.

Their knowledge and use of herbal medicines, tracking and digging skills, and unusual diet (which includes rats) have been written about, filmed, studied and lauded
