Talia C. Teneyuque, 32, is facing felony charges for allegedly using food stamps to buy baking ingredients and selling homemade goods on Facebook. If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Teneyuque was arrested on Aug. 4 and released the same day after posting bond. At her arraignment on Aug. 13, she was granted a $50,000 personal recognizance bond. On Sept. 3, her attorney requested a delay due to scheduling conflicts, and Judge Terry L. Clark agreed to postpone the case.
Her arrest has sparked fierce debate online: is this fraud, or a desperation?
