Here's what happens when I stay in town (and leave my yard).
Very long-time friend and colleague popped in to attend the airing of her audio piece at the museum this week. Then, OG Mentee and I caught up as he is in town for "World Pride."

From this map (thank you, .fischels), you can see Next Gen Radio has produced 90 projects throughout the US since 2013. The darker the shade, the more projects we have done in those states.
Today, we have a robust alumni community of 510 and more than 100 professionals who are mentors, collaborators, leaders, and enthusiasts of our long game development program.

In July, we'll go to Cincinnati for the first time and are looking for applicants.

The application deadline is Sunday, June 15, 11:59 pm.

You do not need to be in college or even have gone. You need an understanding of journalism and a deep interest in audio storytelling.

And, you need to live in "Greater Cincinnati."

We are the Next Generation OF Radio

Some history: Next Gen was named in 2000 by me, because I could. I was producing a news-magazine at NPR so the training was at first, a side hustle. We were shooting video, photos and producing stories for web-based streaming long before it because what it is today. I was using iMovie when it first came out so I could shoot, edit and post video files of my then boss, talking about how to pitch a story or one of our engineers talking about how to get good sound. Back then, there was no YouTube, Twitter or Snapchat. Facebook was for students-only. There was no universal broadband, WiFi was beginning to take off and yet, we were what they now call "digital-first." NPR stations were extremely hesitant to put any student work on the air. So, we built sites on each location, I brought in an NPR staffer who knew how to build sites (even tho' it wasn't her day-job) and our approach to student training was born.

I like to brag about our program alumni so here are a few:

Lee Hill, Director, Content Strategy, New York Public

Christina Stella, Producer, Nebraska Public Radio, Lincoln, Neb
