Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s convicted accomplice, has been quietly transferred from a Florida federal prison to the Federal Prison Camp Bryan in southeast Texas, sparking fresh speculation about a potential Donald Trump pardon, according to a report.

The British socialite, serving 20 years for helping Epstein recruit and abuse young girls, was moved via a brief stop at an Oakdale, Louisiana facility before landing in Texas, according to The New York Sun.

The timing raises eyebrows as Trump recently acknowledged he could pardon Maxwell, telling reporters Monday: “Well, I’m allowed to give her a pardon, but nobody’s approached me with it. Nobody’s asked me about it.”

Through her attorney David Oscar Markus, Maxwell is demanding Congress grant her immunity and clemency in exchange for testimony. “Ms. Maxwell cannot risk further criminal exposure in a politically charged environment without formal immunity,” Markus wrote to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer.

YPSILANTI TWP., MI — Police are asking for the public’s help after two men attempted to abduct a 14-year-old girl in Ypsilanti Township.

A 14-year-old girl was walking between 8 and 9 p.m. Wednesday July 23, in the 2500 block of Holmes Road near Wiard Road in Ypsilanti Township when a minivan stopped on the roadway. The vehicle then began honking its horn, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

The girl approached the car, thinking the driver was a family friend. The driver made inappropriate comments about the girl’s physical appearance before telling her to get into the car, police said.

A man in the backseat then got out of the vehicle and approached the girl from behind, wrapping both arms around the girl’s body and attempted to force her into the vehicle, police said.

After a brief struggle, the man released the girl and got back into the vehicle, which went east on Holmes Road.

The sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help as there are currently no additional details or surveillance video to help with the investigation, officials said.

The vehicle is described as a black Chrysler minivan with no plate.

The driver was described as a heavyset man between 40 and 50 years old. He was clean shaven and had cleft lip.

The passenger was described as a man in his early 20s with a slender build. He was wearing a gray hat with glasses on top.

Authorities say Ibrahim was uploading explicit content involving minors, leading to a joint investigation by M.A.C.E., the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team, and the Michigan ICAC Task Force. Despite the severity of the charges, he was released after posting just $250 bond.

This case is now under further forensic investigation.

Ukranian president Volodymr Zelensky said he is ready to meet with Vladimir Putin on Thursday to discuss a peace deal regarding the Russia-Ukraine war that has been going on for over three years.

Zelesnky took to the social media site X to make the annoucement, stating: “I will be waiting for Putin in Türkiye on Thursday. Personally. I hope that this time the Russians will not look for excuses.”

If it goes ahead, it will be the first time Zelensky and Putin have met since a 2019 encounter at the Normandy Format summit in Paris.

The news comes after Donald Trump took to Truth Social to urge Zelensky to accept the meeting.

“President Putin of Russia doesn’t want to have a Cease Fire Agreement with Ukraine, but rather wants to meet on Thursday, in Turkey, to negotiate a possible end to the BLOODBATH. Ukraine should agree to this, IMMEDIATELY,” he wrote.

A shooting on Detroit’s west side has left two people killed, another two injured, and an 11-year-old with a graze wound.

The incident occurred on Friday (May 9) in the 157200 block of Patton Street, just before 6 p.m., when Detroit police Major Crimes Commander Rebecca McKay said one of the victims was in critical condition.

McKay said the 11-year-old who was grazed by a bullet was listed in stable condition.

Mackay said, “At this point in time, we don’t have any information related to what initiated this horrible incident. Homicide is investigating this, and as the days go by, we should have more information.”

In total, four individuals were shot during the incident. Mackay confirmed, “Two are deceased.” However, she noted that there is currently no information regarding the relationship between the individuals involved.

“We do know that it was two groups of people, whether they’re related, whether they’re not. We don’t know that at this time,” McKay said.

Police said they have a person of interest in custody, but the investigation is ongoing.

“We have to determine exactly what this individual had to do with the incident,” Mackay said.

Donald Trump is appointing Fox News host and former New York prosecutor Jeanine Pirro to serve as interim U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., after the president announced earlier Thursday he would be pulling his support for the full nomination of Ed Martin, who currently holds the role.

“Jeanine is incredibly well qualified for this position, and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thursday evening. “She is in a class by herself.”

The president touted Pirro’s time as Westchester County District Attorney and work establishing the first domestic violence unit in a prosecutor’s office, calling her a “powerful crusader for victims of crime.”

The Independent has contacted the White House for comment.

“Jeanine Pirro has been a wonderful addition to The Five over the last three years and a longtime beloved host across FOX News Media who contributed greatly to our success throughout her 14-year tenure,” a FOX News Media spokesperson told The Independent in a statement. “We wish her all the best in her new role in Washington.”

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been elected the new pope, set to succeed the late Pope Francis and mark the first time an American has served as pope.

He took the name Leo XIV and emerged from the balcony of St. Peter’s Square to introduce himself, just more than an hour after white smoke emanated from the Sistine Chapel to signal his election.

The selection of an American pope is a historic one that breaks the norms of the Catholic Church. The idea of an American pope has historically been considered a long shot because cardinals typically pick leaders from non-superpower nations.

The first words from Leo XIV, which are closely watched by Catholics, were “Peace be with you all.” He appeared visibly emotional while he addressed the square and the world as the new pope.

He also paid tribute to Francis, speaking in Italian, as he is expected to continue his predecessors direction of the church towards inclusion.
