Designed entirely by students and for students, The Rival is GW’s very first alternative source for news, opinion, and entertainment. Our aim is to provide the GW community an inclusive and open platform for discussing issues and ideas
that matter to the student body but up until now have not had an outlet. The Rival consists of everything from editorial opinion pieces, real-time news analysis, satire, and things to do in the DC area. We will cover stories both in the Foggy Bottom community and other news items that we find pertinent to our readers. Pieces will come primarily through submissions from the GW community (yes, that means you!) and The Rival’s own committed team of contributors and editors. You can submit pieces through the Rival’s website, which will be live by the beginning on March 27, 2014. We are also looking for regular contributors, so you’ve always dreamed of having a weekly column of your very own, or if you have an expertise in a particular field that you want to share, this is your chance! (And not to state the obvious but having published writing material doesn’t look too shabby on a resume…). We’re looking for pieces that YOU would want to read, and things that impact your live as a young person, not necessarily limited to things that happen at GW…everything from student loans to sexting, lets hear it.
