Justice David Souter played a pivotal role in one of the most consequential rulings for abortion rights in modern history: Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

By joining the majority to reaffirm Roe, he recognized the lived reality of people navigating reproductive healthcare and resisted immense political pressure. His jurisprudence reflected a deep understanding of personal liberty and the dangers of government interference in our most private decisions.

At a time when reproductive freedom is once again under attack, Justice Souter’s legacy reminds us that every defender of freedom matters. I’m thinking of his family and loved ones today as we remember his impact.

Take your children to work day a few days late! Thanks to Leader Hakeem Jeffries & Senator Cory Booker for including us in today’s livestream of the fight for an equitable budget and to protect Medicaid- so critical for kids & moms. And thanks to my boys for being so patient & the Jeffries team for the very cool Capitol tour. Finally in going to frame that last comment- working moms do it all & raise kids who believe in community & Justice for all.

We heard from families scared about what Medicaid cuts will mean for their care, their kids, their futures.

That’s why I’m so proud to stand with Senator Gallego. He’s not dodging these conversations – he’s leading them.
