It was noon on August 23, 2026, right by the Washington Monument, when I caught sight of the President heading off to the Grand Prix. In the network pool news van in the motorcade is the Fox News White House pool camera for the day, Bryan Cole.
Back in the good old days, I was fortunate enough to run a few times with the travel pool camera crew that follows the President. On one of those runs, a low-hanging branch between the Treasury Department and the White House almost took out my eye — I didn't see it but felt it strike me right above the brow. Huge shoutout to my brother Jim, who was working as the audio engineer for the segment and spotted it. I was credited on the screen, which was an awesome surprise to see! 🙌. Canadian forest fires -Today the Capitol is gone at 3.21 miles. The Washington Monument at 1.82 miles is barely there — a ghost in the haze. Yesterday, hops rode in on the wind, a faint, sour, beery tang in the smoke.
