Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood, a BS 21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, has been given additional charge of Secretary, National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division following the suspension of Health Secretary Muhammad Aslam Ghauri.

Mahmood, who is currently serving as Secretary Housing and Works Division, will hold the additional charge for three months or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever comes earlier.

The move comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered strict action following the deadly fire at the PIMS nursery in Islamabad. A high level committee has also been formed to investigate the incident.

Disclaimer: The additional charge and suspension are based on the Establishment Division notifications. The investigation into the PIMS fire is ongoing, and responsibility for the incident has not yet been established.

A Karachi court has acquitted Anmol Pinky in a n@rcotics case registered at Gizri Police Station after accepting her acquittal plea. The Additional District and Sessions Court South approved the application, bringing the case against her to an end.

According to Express News, the defence lawyer told the court that two co-accused, Ali and Fahmida, had already been acquitted in 2024. The lawyer argued that Anmol Pinky had been implicated in the case primarily on the basis of statements given by the co-accused and that, following their acquittal, there was no reasonable possibility of her conviction.

The case was originally registered against Anmol Pinky in 2021, and she had been declared a fugitive in the matter. The court’s latest order has now resulted in her acquittal from the case.
