On The Ground Radio Show On The Ground: Voices of Resistance from the Nation's Capital with Esther Iverem. Podcast on all plartforms: On the Ground w Esther Iverem.

Radio: 89.3 FM in Washington, DC, 90.1 FM in New York City, and 25 other stations. https://onthegroundshow.org/ WASHINGTON, DC and cities and towns across the United States are places of activism. For example, at least 400 students were arrested outside the White House protesting the Keystone XL Pipeline. But you wouldn’t know about this activism based on what is covered in the corporate media. Ev

en so-called progressive cable news outlets tend to focus just on the jockeying of electoral politics.

“On the Ground” counters this trend by giving a voice to the voiceless. The weekly hour hosted by Esther Iverem covers social justice activism, with a special emphasis on sustainable living, the environment, economics, labor and the left edge of culture and media. The show airs every Friday, 10-11 am, on 89.3 FM, WPFW Pacifica Radio, in the Washington, D.C. DMV area and also reaches into portions of Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The show also streams live at www.wpfwfm.org and is archived there for at least three months. The website for the show, www.onthegroundshow.org includes a permanent audio archive of the show.

The United States is in a politically turbulent time, one that calls for residents to stand up against injustice. We speak to historian Gerald Horne for this month’s episode of The F-Word on fascism. And do voting rights for Black people discriminate against whites? We hear from attorneys who just argued a landmark voting rights case before the Supreme Court. Plus headlines on No Kings Day, Israel violates ceasefire and tortures prisoners, and more.

On the Ground: Voices of Resistance from the Nation’s Capital on Pacifica Radio and www.onthegroundshow.org

WASHINGTON, DC, the belly of the beast of international military and corporate power, is also a place of activism. It is where we come to speak truth to power in the streets and in the halls and assemblies of power. But you won’t hear these voices on corporate media. Even so-called progressive cable news outlets focus instead on the jockeying of electoral politics with a distinct neoliberal bias.

“On the Ground: Voices of Resistance from the Nation’s Capital” counters this trend by giving a voice to the voiceless 99 percent at the heart of American empire. The award-winning, weekly hour, produced and hosted by Esther Iverem, covers social justice activism about local, national and international issues, with a special emphasis on militarization and war, the police state, the corporate state, environmental justice and the left edge of culture and media. “On the Ground” premiered on May Day, May 1, 2014 on WPFW 89.3 Pacifica Radio in Washington, DC and is heard on two dozen stations across the United States.

The show airs Fridays 10-11am EST on 89.3 FM, WPFW Pacifica Radio, in the Washington, D.C. DMV area, noon on WRFG 89.3 FM in Atlanta and 5pm on WBAI, 99.5 FM in New York and dozens of other Pacifica stations Our website, www.onthegroundshow.org, includes a permanent audio archive of the show.
