For these vulnerable animals, his care offers a little comfort in an extremely difficult environment. His compassion is a reminder that even during hardship, kindness can still survive.

In 2024, a Pit Bull named Greka lost the woman who had quietly become one of the most important parts of her everyday life.

Greka lived in Mexico with Delvia González, while González’s 70-year-old mother, also named Delvia, cared for her while she was at work. What started as a daily routine became a beautiful friendship.

They played fetch. They rested together. They watched television side by side. When Delvia wasn’t feeling well, Greka often stayed close.

Then Delvia was hospitalized and passed away.

Her family brought Greka to the funeral, where González said she trembled and became deeply distressed near the coffin.

When they returned home, the family created a small memorial with Delvia’s photograph.

Soon, Greka began returning to it.

Sometimes, she carried the same ball they had once played with together and sat quietly beside the photograph.

We can’t know exactly what Greka understands about death or what she believes a photograph means.

But her family knew what they were seeing.

Someone who had been part of her daily life was suddenly gone—and one of the routines they shared remained.

So Greka kept coming back with her ball.

The ball wasn’t placed there for a sad story. It was already part of their life together.
