12:45 PM Power Outage Update

I want to provide some important perspective on the situation from DTE. The damage across the remaining outage areas is far more extensive than many people realize. Instead of large circuits where hundreds of homes can be restored at once, DTE crews are now dealing with the remaining homes of individual, highly specific repair jobs. Each of these takes significantly more time due to the unique conditions at each location, which is why restoration in these remaining pockets is slower from what DTE is telling me.

Please know that DTE crews are actively working through these outages one by one, and I continue to stay on them to ensure progress is made as quickly as possible. If you are still without power, please send me your address so I can continue advocating directly with DTE on your behalf.

In the meantime, the Romeo Community Center is open as a warming center for residents who need assistance. To be more central located:

📍 Romeo Community Center
361 Morton Street, Romeo

The center is available for:
• Warming and a place to rest
• Restroom access
• Electrical needs, including charging cell phones and powering medical devices

Residents from Washington Township, Romeo, and Bruce Township are welcome to use this facility as DTE crews continue restoration efforts.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this difficult and frustrating situation.

8:00 P.M. Power Outage Update – Washington Township

Over the past 36 hours, DTE crews have been working around the clock, and I’m grateful to report that most power has been restored throughout the township. There are still a few small pockets without power, and those crews continue to work on those areas this evening.

However, approximately 20 minutes ago, a tree heavily weighed down by ice broke apart, with branches falling onto power lines along the 32 Mile area, which caused a transformer to blow and resulted in new power outages—including for some homes that had just had power restored.

🚧 DTE trucks are currently en route to address the damaged lines and transformer. They are hoping to have service restored within the next few hours.

If you are affected by this new outage or continue to be without power, please keep me posted, especially if you have urgent electrical or warming needs.

🏛️ Township Hall is available if needed for:
• Electrical access
• Restroom usage
• A warm place to stay

📞 Please contact me directly by call or text at 586-651-2656 if you or your neighbors need assistance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and thank you to the DTE crews working through these difficult conditions.

5:00 PM Power Outage Update (DTE)

As of 5:00 PM, DTE reports that fewer than 50 homes in Washington Township remain without power. Many of the affected grids extend beyond township boundaries, which is why there are still outages in neighboring areas such as Shelby, Rochester, Romeo, Bruce, Armada, and Oakland Township.

If you are still without power and need access to electricity, warmth, or basic facilities, please feel free to message me directly. I have opened Township Hall multiple times throughout the day for residents to:
• Charge phones and devices
• Use restroom facilities
• Rest and warm up in a heated building

I will also remain available this evening. You can reach me anytime by call or text at 586-651-2656.

Please be aware that high winds are forecasted tonight, and we are hopeful that power lines are not impacted again. Let’s keep Washington Township in our prayers.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. I know many residents—especially families with infants and seniors who rely on power for medical needs—have been without electricity for over 24 hours. DTE has been responsive and continues to provide me with updates as each remaining pocket is restored.

As always, please check on your family, friends, and neighbors to see if they need anything during this time.
