A patient of mine introduced this song along with many others by Billy Jonas and a lot of them are pretty adaptable. I have to say that “what kind of cat are you” and “what kind of dog are you” are my favorites!

The patient’s parents said when they bought a new van, that his CDs were left inside and that’s how they found out about him 😂

Hello!

Note By Note may no longer exist, but I’m thinking of using this page as a resource for music therapists and also share updates on how developing a music therapy program at a children’s hospital is going!

It’s been a little over a month in this new position and I am loving it! My main goal for this month was to build rapport with the staff and educating them on how to determine who is most appropriate for a music therapy referral. I know this may take awhile, but I’d say it’s been pretty successful so far!

As for a resource for MTs, here’s a little cheer that a patient and I came up with! From now on, this will be a going home cheer (with adaptations) for future extended stay patients!

I miss private practice at times, but I am so happy (and way less stressed 😂) to be here!

I begin my new journey at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois on Monday!

Although this is so bittersweet, I am excited for these next steps 💜

April 5th, 2025 - our final studio recital.

Studio recitals are something I always look forward to. In the last three years, we’ve had 7 recitals (for some reason I don’t have a picture of our summer 2024 recital 😭).
Our next recital wasn’t supposed to be until the summer, but due to all of the last minute changes, we held a “last hurrah” recital yesterday!

We missed quite a few students because of the short notice, but I am so thankful to the families who were able to bring their children to perform one last time.

Being a teacher wasn’t something I saw myself doing once I got my degree, but when everything shut down in 2020, teaching became my lifesaver and life-changer. In the last five years, I’ve taught over 50 students and I am so grateful to have cross paths with each and every one of them. 💜
