Snow is beginning to fall in central Iowa early this afternoon. Rain will eventually mix with snow in eastern Iowa later this afternoon and into the evening. Light accumulations (generally under 1”) will be possible in areas that see heavier snowfall rates. Areas north of interstate 80 will be most favored.

Mild conditions will continue through Friday with high temperatures in the low to mid 60’s. Our next system will bring widespread rain during the day on Saturday. As temperatures cool Saturday evening, rain will likely mix with and possibly changeover to snow. We are not expecting widespread accumulations at this time, however, the track and timing of this system could change between now and then. We will keep you posted!

Bitterly cold air settles in for Sunday and Monday with the potential for a few flurries. Comfortable fall weather will return next week.

Warm conditions will continue this afternoon before more rain arrives with a strong cold front tonight. Showers and thunderstorms are likely overnight with temperatures falling sharply into the 40’s.

Sunday will be a blustery day with high temperatures near 60°. Another cold front arrives Tuesday bringing the potential for frost Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Unseasonably warm weather will continue through at least Sunday with afternoon temperatures near 90° each day. Cloud cover and the timing of rain will impact how warm we get on Monday and Tuesday. More seasonable weather is expected by the middle of next week.
