Now is the time to get prepared for another weekend of stupid high winds.

Gusty winds return tomorrow and Friday for Matanuska Valley, Valdez, and Thompson Pass. Winds tomorrow won't be as strong as they were this weekend, but confidence is lower regarding wind speeds for Friday. Please stay tuned to forecast updates, secure lingering debris, and begin planning for stronger winds later this week.

MATSU SCHOOLS Regions 1-5 & 7 are closed Tue, Dec 9 due to wind, outages, and time needed to make sure facilities & buses are ready. Elementary and middle school activities are canceled; high school updates by noon. Region 6 will run a normal schedule with transportation.

MATSU Schools! Regions 1-5 and 7 are closed Monday, Dec. 8 due to high wind, the forecast, and electrical outages. All activities in these regions are canceled. Region 6 will operate on a normal schedule with transportation.

Due to widespread power outages across the Mat-Su, the American Red Cross has opened a shelter at:
Mat-Su College
8295 E. College Drive, Palmer, AK
This shelter is available for anyone needing a warm place, a shower, or to charge essential medical equipment.

Good morning MSBSD families.

Due to icy road conditions, Region 4 will operate on a two-hour delay today (12/1/25). Morning Pre-K is canceled.

*This delay is two hours from the normal start time, not the PLC schedule.

Region 4 includes Beryozova, Dena’ina Elementary, Goose Bay Elementary, Knik Elementary, and Redington Jr./Sr. High. All other regions are operating on a normal schedule.
