The Fair Train is Returning in 2025!

Contributed by Alaska State Fair

Palmer, Alaska – The Alaska State Fair and the Alaska Railroad are pleased to announce the return of the popular Fair train to the 2025 Fair. The Fair train will run the last weekend of the 2025 Fair, from Friday, August 29, through Sunday, August 31.

“The Fair Train is a part of the rich history of both the Alaska Railroad and the Alaska State Fair. Brining back this Fair experience provides a way for customers to enjoy their day at the fair without having to think about driving and parking, so they can focus on having a good time with family and friends at the Alaska State Fair. We are so grateful to the Alaska Railroad for their support of the Fair Train.” Said Jeff Curtis, CEO of the Alaska State Fair.

“The Alaska Railroad is happy to once again partner with the Alaska State Fair to offer the Fair train. We’re always looking for opportunities to serve the community, and giving fairgoers a relaxing, enjoyable way to get to the Fair is one way we can do that,” said David Greenhalgh, vice president of marketing and customer service.

From August 29 through August 31, there will be two round trips offered per day between the Anchorage depot, located at 411 West 1st Avenue, and the South Palmer train depot, located next to the Green Gate. The Fair train will depart Anchorage at 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. Return trips will depart the Fair at 6:45 and 10:15 p.m. Each one-way trip is approximately 90 minutes.

Tickets for the Fair train go on sale July 31st at 9 a.m. at alaskarailroad.com. Fares are $31 for adults, $21 for children (ages 2-11), and free for a child in lap (under 2). Parking is available at the Diamond Parking Lot across from the Alaska Railroad Anchorage depot at 412 W 1st Ave. Fair admission is additional.

The Alaska Railroad is a state-owned corporation providing year-round inter-city public rail transportation and freight service from Seward to Anchorage to Fairbanks. Moving over 540,000 passengers and 3.4 million tons of freight annually, safety is at the core of its operations. More information is available at alaskarailroad.com or by contacting Robin Moore, marketing communications manager at [email protected].

The Alaska State Fair is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that hosts the state’s largest annual event, attracting hundreds of thousands of fairgoers each year. The 2025 Fair takes place August 15 – September 1 at the fairgrounds in Palmer.
