Join us for an afternoon of Water Valley history with author and educator Mark Neaves, as he discusses his book Mississippi Axe Murders: Tragedy in Water Valley—a carefully researched look at one of the most talked-about cases in Depression-era North Mississippi.

A lifelong North Mississippian and 22-year history teacher, Mark brings a historian's eye to the people, the era, and the small-town world of 1931 Water Valley.
Expect a thoughtful presentation, a Q&A, light refreshments, and copies available for signing.

RECOVERY HELP IN YALOBUSHA
MAY 11-16

MEMA/FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams are at the Velma Volunteer Fire Department on Hwy. 7 (south of Water Valley) May 11-16. MEMA, FEMA and SBA representatives are offering one-on-one assistance for residents and businesses affected by Winter Storm Fern.
• Homeowners
• Renters
• Businesses
• Nonprofits

For SBA (Small Business Association), there is no cost to apply for a disaster assistance low interest loan and no payments for the first 12 months. SBA provides assistance for homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits. Loans may help cover things like repairs, debris cleanup, fencing, tree work, insurance deductibles and operating expenses.

Hours at Velma this week are :
Mon-Fri: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sat: 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
