It’s our first week in our new home and new city, and here are some thoughts 💭

So far - we love it. There’s so much to do and fix and buy, but also already so much to love and enjoy. Olive loves having a whole garden to play in and a whole house to chill out in. We love waking up seeing nothing but green through the windows, hear nothing but the birds. The house is wonderful and warm and I can’t believe we got this lucky.

That said after a life of travel, a life of being super social, and a life of metropolitan city stuff it definitely has its hard sides. We know nobody here yet and are both completely starting over again. I tried some mom groups and honestly - huge no for me. I don’t like relationships to be build on nothing more than having a baby, instead my friendships are usually build on mutual connection through hobbies, life, etc. So I’m very much thinking of how to redo that here.

Getting out of my comfort zone feels super daunting right now - especially with baby boy on the way - but also I’m super excited to get going, make friends, find my tribe here in Zwolle, so now that the dust of moving is settling I think it’s about time to hit up the salsa socials, find some dog or horsey people, and learn more about this city 🌷

If anyone has good tips or ideas, Zwolle specific or otherwise, I’m open!

The move is done 🏡

A last walk through the beautiful area I grew up in, and it was time to pack our bags and head to a totally new area. Super excited to get to know Zwolle 🐕

Little forest wander before heading to our new home 🏠

I just realised I am spending every trimester of this pregnancy in a totally different spot… How crazy! One more night guys and I can finally show you our new home 🥰 for now - you’ll have to do with miss Olives pretty face. Can you believe she is already turning 10 this year?

The last week at Oma’s home has started ♥️ grateful is an understatement. How she took us in for way longer than expected (3! Months!) and made the Netherlands feel like home for both of us, I will never forget.

📍 Roots market, Bergen NH

The one thing I really missed from the Netherlands is the cute markets that happen throughout summer - being one of them. Focussed on local, organic products and cute fair trade goods, this market has loads to see and buy. Also it’s located right around the famous Ruin church which makes for an amazing backdrop! We visited the last one in my hometown Bergen, but don’t be sad they will be held super regularly throughout the summer! The next one will be held on the 14th of June in Bergen, or if you can’t wait there will be a Roots market in Egmond on the 22nd of May ♥️

We’ve been so blessed living around the corner of “het Oude Hof” 🌱

There’s something truly magical about a spring walk here. I absolutely love how Andres captured this day, you can almost feel the love through his lens in every single frame. ♥️

Strolling down these beautifully straight, sun-dappled avenues feels like stepping out of time. Here is the story behind our perfect backdrop:

🌳 Built around 1643, the estate was designed in the Dutch classicist style. Those super straight paths and quiet, reflecting canals were created intentionally to offer endless, dramatic sightlines, perfect for long, romantic walks.

✒️ We aren’t the first to find inspiration here! The famous philosopher René Descartes used to wander these exact grounds in the 1640s while visiting the estate’s owner.

🌷 Every spring, the woods are carpeted with Stinzenplanten, delicate, historic wildflowers that have been blooming under these ancient trees for centuries.

🪖 This peaceful sanctuary has seen it all, even surviving the crossfire of the Battle of Bergen in 1799.
There is just something incredibly special about walking hand-in-hand where people have strolled for nearly 400 years.

✨Tourist mode, on!✨

(NL captions below)

After 3 years in Budapest, it’s time for a new chapter: we moved back to the Netherlands. 🇳🇱

At the end of February, Olive, Andres and I packed up our life and made the leap — partly because of an amazing new job as Head of Social Media NL (and a few other reasons some of you already know… and the rest will soon ♥️).

The first weeks were all about landing and finding our rhythm again. Now it’s a happy mix of nature walks, a little tourist mode (yesterday at Zaanse Schans = these photos), and slowly looking for a cozy place around Alkmaar. (If you know something, please DM me!) 🍃

Olive is thriving, the weather is being suspiciously kind, and we’re very excited to nest here for now.

Stuur me vooral een DM!)

Olive zit helemaal op haar plek, het weer is bijna té mooi, en wij hebben super veel zin om hier voor nu lekker te nestelen.

Okay… we have some explaining to do.

Yes — we took a long break. And no, it wasn’t random. We’ve been quietly planning some pretty enormous things, and one of them I can finally share. Some of you might already know, but it’s official: we’re saying goodbye to beautiful Budapest and swapping goulash for stroopwafels. 🇳🇱

Yep. You heard that right.

I’m moving back to the Netherlands — a sentence I truly never thought I’d say, but here we are. Life is funny like that.

Over the next weeks, Olive 🐕, Andres and I will be planning our departure, with a move scheduled for the end of February. If you’d like to say goodbye (or cry with us, or drink with us), keep an eye on our stories — because of course we’ll be hosting a proper goodbye party.

I’m going to miss the streets, the food, the friends, the chaos, the beauty… basically everything 🥹

That said — I’m also excited (while simultaneously panicking about the housing crisis, logistics, and life in general 🫠).

New chapter loading… ✨
