Thanks to Denise Conrad with the American Cancer Society for stopping by to tell us about the Relay For Life of Black Hawk County coming up on Friday, June 12, from 5-10 p.m. at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. The Relay for Life brings the community together to celebrate survivors, honor caregivers, and raise funds for cancer research — including six active grants totaling $1.7 million at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. This year's Relay theme is "Strike Out Cancer," and it features a Luminaria ceremony, food trucks, family activities, and a $125,000 fundraising goal you can help reach by forming a team, volunteering, or donating at relayforlife.org/blackhawkcountyia. A Valley Lutheran School principal and track coach has been arrested and charged with Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee after Waterloo police investigated an alleged inappropriate relationship between him and a juvenile female student.
