Our celebration of Indigenous creators and stories continues with these two incredible picture books!

📚 FOREVER COUSINS by Laurel Goodluck and illustrated by Jonathan Nelson. This story highlights the ongoing impact of the 1950s Indian Relocation Act on Native families, even today, and reminds readers that the power of friendship and family can bridge any distance.

📚 CLACK, CLACK! SMACK!: A CHEROKEE STICKBALL STORY by Traci Sorell and illustrated by Joseph Erb. Vann loves his tribe’s traditional sport of stickball, but he’s not as skilled as his teammates. This picture book reminds readers that sportsmanship and being a team player is just as important as being the star. Back matter explains the Cherokee game of stickball, still played today.
