A find I made a in 2025 that may still be one of my favorites ever! A fugio cent! These coins were privately struck in 1787 and designed by Ben Franklin! What’s awesome is the one I found just so happened to be in amazing shape! Forever a find I’ll always remember!

Pictured is a beautiful diplomatic button that I found metal detecting a few months back. I found it in a field behind a farmhouse that was the first farm house of the town. The individual that first lived here was a very prominent person.

Diplomatic buttons were worn by individuals of a higher status, and often signified rank, prestige, and national authority. These buttons acted both as fasteners and decoration, distinguishing government officials from ordinary tourists or citizens.

I first thought it was a military button due to the eagle surrounded by stars, as that is the design for a lot of different militia buttons, but that wasn’t the case. This dates back to the early 1800’s and is probably one of my favorite finds to date. It’s also really cool to be able to connect a single find to the prominent person that once walked the land I am walking on 200 plus years later!
