Scams, at one point in time, were easy to detect. If you received an odd request from an unknown email or phone number, you knew to simply ignore it — especially if the request involved any amount of money. But, scammers and their schemes have evolved and become more sophisticated over time. We spoke with local law enforcement to hear about the latest scams and how residents can protect themselves.

Assembly District 82 candidates Rico Camacho (pictured, left) and Bryson Reyes (pictured, right) are sparring over a political mailer paid for by the Republican Party of Wisconsin and authorized by Reyes. The mailer accuses Camacho of being endorsed by terrorist sympathizers and alleges that he "loved content saying ‘This Country Sucks.’" Camacho, in a statement Monday to The Freeman, accused Reyes’ campaign of using mailers that allegedly darkened his skin and questioned his patriotism.
