🚨🚨 Heads up for Nordic Fest attendees! Expect temporary downtown traffic and parking changes July 24–26, including a Heivly Street closure. 🚨🚨 Read on for more details.
The Nordic Fest Board of Directors and the Decorah Police Department are pleased to welcome visitors and residents to Nordic Fest 2025 this Thursday through Saturday, July 24–26. To help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, several temporary traffic and parking adjustments will be in effect throughout the downtown area during the festival. In addition, Heivly Street remains closed due to ongoing construction, which may impact travel routes near the Fest grounds.
Traffic & Parking Changes
🚧West Main Street (between Grove St. and Mechanic St.) One-way traffic westbound only; parking permitted on the north side only.
No Parking Areas:
🚧Grove Street, between Main Street and Water Street
🚧Mill Street, between Main Street and Water Street
🚧North side of Water Street, between Grove Street and Mill Street
Traffic Restrictions:
🚧No turns onto the 600 block of Main Street from Mill Street
Road Closures:
🚧Official Nordic Fest grounds include Water Street (Mill Street to State Street), Mill Street (Water Street to Heivly Street), Court Street (Water Street to Main Street), Main Street (Court Street to Winnebago Street), Winnebago Street (Water Street to Main Street) and Washington Street (Water Street to South Alley).
🚧Heivly Street is closed for construction from College Drive to Mill Street and will remain inaccessible throughout Nordic Fest.
Handicap-Accessible Parking
🚗To better accommodate individuals with mobility needs, additional handicap-accessible parking will be available in two key locations:
-- Court Street, between the South Alley and Main Street
-- Winnebago Street, between Main Street and Broadway Street on the West side
Free Luther College Shuttle Encouraged:
To ease congestion and improve access to the Fest, visitors are encouraged to use the free Luther College shuttle, operating on Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.. The shuttle provides a convenient connection between Luther’s campus (with ample free parking) and downtown Fest activities.
The Nordic Fest Board and the Decorah Police Department thank the community for their continued support, flexibility, and cooperation. These measures are designed to help keep the festival area safe and accessible while ensuring that visitors can enjoy one of Decorah’s most cherished annual events.
