This is the pep talk we keep giving ourselves before summer starts.

And if you needed someone to say it to you today — here it is.

You are not behind. You are not doing it wrong. You do not need a perfectly planned summer to be a good mom.

You just need to show up. Imperfectly. Consistently. Lovingly.

That is more than enough. 🤍

Save this. Share it with the mom who needs it today.

The summer nanny conversation that prevents 90% of the stress before it starts.

Not a contract. Not a rulebook. Just an honest conversation before day one that makes sure everyone is working toward the same summer.

The misaligned expectations are what make it hard. This conversation is what prevents them.

Save this. Share it with every mom hiring summer help right now.

Friendly reminder before your summer nanny starts. 🤓

If healthy eating and good nutrition is important to your family this summer — that conversation starts with you. Not her.

She is 18. She is doing her absolute best. And she genuinely might not know how to cook yet. That is not a failure on her part — it’s just where she is in life.

So if you care about what your kids are eating this summer — set her up to win.

Leave easy options. Write out simple lunch ideas. Meal prep a few things ahead of time so the decisions are already made. Stock the fridge with things that are grab and go.

Don’t come home to chicken nuggets on repeat and be frustrated. Come home to the lunch you set her up to make.

The nannies who thrive are the ones whose families gave them a roadmap. The ones who struggle are the ones who were handed a schedule and expected to figure out the rest.

Set her up for success. Set your summer up for success. It starts before day one. ☀️

Not the mom with the cleanest house this summer.

Not the mom with the most planned activities or the most perfectly documented moments.

The one who got in the water even when she didn’t feel like it.

The one who said yes to one more story, one more game, one more walk around the block after dinner even when she was tired.

The one who let the dishes sit and sat down next to them instead.

That’s the mom that lives in their memories forever. Not perfect. Not put together. Just present.

This summer — be her. Even imperfectly. Even on the hard days. Even when it would be easier not to. 🤍

Setting limits with a big reactor without it turning into a full blown power struggle — this one is for you. 🤍

Because if you have a big reactor, you already know that the standard “just say no and hold firm” advice completely falls apart the moment you try it. Their reaction to a limit can feel so intense that you start questioning whether the limit was even worth it.
It was.

Here’s what taught us that changed everything.

Your tone is doing more work than your words. Calm, warm, and firm — not apologetic, not aggressive. The moment anxiety creeps into your voice they feel it and the escalation begins.

Don’t over-explain. A confident simple statement holds more weight than a paragraph of justification. The more you explain the more negotiating room they think they have.

And when the protest comes — and it will come — that is not evidence the limit was wrong. That is just what it sounds like when a big reactor hits a boundary they don’t like.

Stay the course. Because the love is in the limit. 🤍

Structure is not punishment. It’s how they learn the world is safe.
