Members of the Wood County Amateur Radio Emergency Service/Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (ARES/RACES) in Wisconsin Rapids are set to join a nationwide amateur radio exercise. Running from 1 p.m. on Saturday until 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 27-28, the event is known as ARRL Field Day. This annual tradition has been coordinated since 1933 by ARRL, the national association for amateur radio in the United States.

48th St. N, between Washington St. and State Highway 54, will be closed to through traffic due to a culvert replacement by the Town of Grand Rapids, beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, May 18 and is expected to re-open at 3 p.m. Friday, May 22. Traffic will be detoured from 48th St. N, then onto Washington St. then onto State Highway 54.

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) invites community members to attend an “Energy in Your Township” educational presentation on Thursday, April 30 from 5:30-7 p.m. at B’s Tap House at Two Doors Down Brewing Co.

This free event will address the proposed data center in Wisconsin Rapids, share information on how the electric grid works and how it impacts residents, and provide resources for residents to make informed decisions about the future of energy in their community.
