BONUS Time Warp photo: IT DIDN’T GET AWAY—“Ervin Wittenburg, Denver, vacationing recently in Acapulco with his wife; Mr. and Mrs. Don Buck and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Schumacher, also of Denver, caught a prize sailfish. The fish measured eight feet, nine inches in length and weighed 127 pounds. It took Wittenburg 45 minutes to land the trophy fish which was caught on a 30-pound test line. According to Wittenburg, a nine-foot sailfish is among the largest ones caught in the area” (from Nov. 25, 1975).

The installation of street decorations was started this week in preparation for lighting and Holiday Season opening on December 8” (from Nov. 27, 1975).

The Waverly-Shell Rock, Denver and Janesville girls wrestling teams competed on November 21 and 22 at the Cliff Keen Independence Girls Invite. In a massive tournament with 38 schools in attendance, two area wrestlers were able to take home gold, and one area wrestler took home silver.

BONUS Time Warp photos: CHOPPER TOUR—“First, second and third graders of the Denver elementary school had an opportunity last week to see, touch and explore a helicopter at close range. The Waterloo unit of the National Guard visited the high school seniors, promoting their recruiting program. Elementary principal Duane Boehmke asked the National Guard representatives to also explain a few things about helicopters to the younger children. Youngsters learned much about the machine itself, as well as the different duties and functions of the National Guard helicopters and pilots” (from Nov. 27, 1975).
