There is no chore I hate worse than bagging and unbagging dahlias. I’d rather w**d. It’s so tedious. The corn beetles and tarnish bugs are out in full force no matter what I do.
If you wonder why dahlias are expensive, this is one reason! No one wants to buy bug eaten petals.
We are making our picks for the Iowa State Fair. Honestly, the weather is beautiful and we need some fun and relaxation so I am bringing very few blooms and just looking forward to seeing friends and watch the horses and eat some fair food! The dahlia show is tomorrow if you want to see it.

I just had to share this video from yesterday. Does anyone else have a giant chicken dog? The black shop kitty (Sparkles) and her are friends but the torti kitty is not a fan. Poor Rowan has mistaken her in the evening for her friend and has gotten a swat or two and she has not forgotten it!
