Who is Gram Parsons some of you might ask?
One of the most influential musical pioneers to ever come out of Waycross, Georgia! He merged country, bluegrass, rock n roll, and folk music in the late 60s into a form he liked to call Cosmic American Music. He changed the path of The Rolling Stones with his insight into true American country music. He discovered Emmylou Harris, along with the help of Chris Hillman, and she remains his most-dedicated devotee to this day. The first 12 years of his life was spent growing up in Waycross, Georgia until he moved away to Winter Haven, Florida in 1958.
What's any of this got to do with a festival?
Gram had a deep abiding love for all music, which was reflected in his own original songs and in what he chose to listen to in his short life. If you'll take the time to come out Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, you'll hear the influence of Gram Parsons, Waycross, Georgia music pioneer.
