-- Ohio State has a wrestling program, one of the best in the nation.
-- Notre Dame killed their program and stole $1.8 million that was given to the program and put that money into its football program.

Wayne High parents - TODAY is the last day for photo orders. Make sure your athlete’s order is with Mrs. Heikes by 3:00 this afternoon. Photos will be ready before the first night of the season n Dec. 5.

For Tri County NE parents - your kids’ photo shoot is after school today. Please make sure the kids bring their orders in today - late orders will be picked up Tuesday the 26th in the morning with a Dec. 5 delivery.

Fall sports photos have been taken for Wayne High and Tri County Northeast (Allen and Emerson-Hubbard) teams and we have received orders that kids brought in during the photo shoots.

***NOTICE*** -- If you didn't get orders in on the photo date, you still have time to get them in. I will be stopping by each of the three schools Monday beginning at 12 p.m. to pick up the late orders. MAKE SURE YOUR ORDER IS IN THE HANDS OF THE PEOPLE AT YOUR SCHOOL'S FRONT OFFICE NO LATER THAT 11:59 A.M. MONDAY, AUG. 19.

Expected delivery of all orders that are in our hands by that time is Thursday, Aug. 29.

Today is media day for Wayne High fall sports — just a couple of things for moms and dads ordering photos:

- please make sure form is filled out and money is with the order - paper clips are preferred over staples

- if your child doesn’t have the order/money today, make sure it is in Mrs. Heikes’ hands by NO LATER THAN MONDAY, AUG. 19. Late orders will not be processed until AFTER Labor Day.

As y’all know, I’m a big wrestling guy who fell in love with sport as I made my mark in the journalism field and have been a HUGE advocate and supporter of the recent growth of girls wrestling.

Next week, two young ladies from Wayne will wrestle among some of the nation’s best freestyle wrestlers from all over the US at the Fargo Nationals. This is like the Super Bowl or Stanley Cup of youth wrestling in this country and has been the place where great wrestlers become phenomenal wrestlers. QUALIFYING for Fargo is a beast in and of itself…making it to the medal stand is outstanding and is one of the most intimidating things a wrestler can put on their resume.

I don’t know if Wayne has EVER had a kid qualify for Fargo, but these two young ladies are going to go up and represent us and Nebraska and see how far they can go in this huge tournament. Mikey C Productions is proud to help sponsor Hannah Burris (seated pic) and Essynce Owens-Webb (standing pic), both of whom have shown a passion for this sport and a willingness to do the offseason work that is going to pay HUGE dividends for them when the coming wrestling season approaches.

Essynce has also been selected to represent a national team thanwill compete in Bahria this fall, and we are helping support that effort as well. If you’d like to help out, message me and I can pass that information on to you.

Happy to announce that Mikey C Productions has purchased the Dakota County Star newspaper in South Sioux City, taking the reins officially on Saturday, June 1. The newspaper is one of several we have been doing contract work for since 2016, and this is a great opportunity for us to grow and expand our business. We will continue operations here in Wayne and expanding to South Sioux in the near future.
