They say that all good things must end someday and it has been a while since we posted anything. Sadly, age has taken it's toll on me. Many of you have seen me with my arm in a sling with a broken collar bone (2011), you have seen me after carpal tunnel surgery arm in a sling (2014) in a wheelchair with a broken ankle (2015), 2018 laminectomy Oct 31 and still did the Halloween Party at AMVETS Post 39, neck brace after 2 neck surgeries in 2020 and I adhered to the mantra "the SHOW MUST GO ON"!
I did my best to fill the role that is the obligation of a karaoke host.
Granted, there were times that I partied too much...I am guilty of getting too drunk more than once and many times it was just to subdue pain, that I swear to all things holy, I did not want to reveal. I guess I would prefer to be known as an excessive partier than just a mean "ass" reacting to unseen pain that was unbearable.
The ONLY thing I am trying to justify here (all excuses aside) is I have never been willing to NOT let the show, the singing, the laughter and the love go on.
One of our greatest blessings was when the "late-GREAT Dave Turner" asked us if we would like to be a part of a fund raiser for a little girl fighting leukemia and I said yes so quickly that Dave said, "I haven't told you who, where or when..." Again, I insisted yes! Give us the details. We had no idea the door that this would open was one of extended family, love we had never imagined. Robert and Cheryl Sanchez and their family have been an amazing and brilliant spot in our lives. Kaylee, the little girl was 4 (as I recall) and is nearly 22 now, if I am not mistaken...and no one knew back then if she would make it. I gave her one of my Krooners Karaoke hats that night and I told her it was adjustable and she had to promise to adjust it as the years went by to make sure it fit properly.
This weekend we are doing ANOTHER of a long line of Sanchez summer family gatherings, but it will probably be our last.
Time is reminding us all that "retire" is not a dirty word.
God bless and keep you all! We will still be around...you never know Krooners Karaoke may pop up here and there, but we will not be in bars doing regular shows. Thank you to everyone who have been part of our adventure. YOU made it possible and we love you.
