Update: The explosive device in question was exploded and rendered inert by the Shasta County Sheriff's Office Bomb Team just after 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Despite a ReadyTrinity alert affecting several large zones in Weaverville, deputies on scene say there is no risk to safety as long as people steer clear of the Mill Street trailhead, and they have placed caution tape around the area and formed a perimeter.

Trinity County Sheriff’s Department is at the Mill Street Trailhead of the Weaver Basin Trail where a suspected explosive device was located this morning, Aug. 6.
