After nearly a decade, the Still Creek Bridge is finally getting a major upgrade — and construction is officially underway! 🙌

Thanks to Ridge2River Construction and the Mt. Hood Forest Service, the new bridge will be twice as long, safer, and built to last over 100 years with steel and concrete construction. It’ll even include a pedestrian walkway and a scenic viewing area!

Expected completion: November 1.

⛳ Hoodland Women’s Club 21st Annual Benefit Golf Tournament Raises Big for Education and Community ⛳

On June 26, the scenic Three Nines Golf Course at Mt. Hood Oregon Resort played host to the 21st annual Hoodland Women’s Club Benefit Golf Tournament — a key fundraiser supporting local scholarships and community projects.

Thanks to dozens of sponsors and 25 teams, the tournament has raised over $19,000 this year! That money is helping fund five scholarships for Hoodland residents — including a new continuing education scholarship for adults pursuing trade school, professional licenses, or college classes.

Three scholarships are sponsored by generous Diamond-Level donors like Kim Anzarut (Allay Consulting) and Adriane Bovero (All County Real Estate).

Beyond scholarships, the Hoodland Women’s Club has donated more than 2,000 volunteer hours and over $20,000 back into the community in 2025 alone.

Interested in applying for the adult education scholarship? The deadline is August 30!

Stay tuned to The Mountain Times for monthly updates on the Hoodland Women’s Club’s incredible work.

🏔️ Honoring 50 Years of Friends of Timberline 🏔️

The Oregon Legislature has officially recognized the Friends of Timberline with House Concurrent Resolution 30 — celebrating five decades of dedicated service preserving one of Oregon’s most treasured landmarks, Timberline Lodge.

Since 1975, this nonprofit group has quietly restored WPA-era textiles, conserved fine art, and raised funds to keep the lodge’s legacy alive. From repurposed building materials to hidden historic signatures inside remodeled rooms, the lodge tells a story of craftsmanship and care — thanks in large part to these devoted volunteers.

Rep. Jeff Helfrich, a former snowboard instructor at Timberline, praised the group’s perseverance in ensuring the lodge remains a beacon of Oregon’s heritage.

This recognition reminds us that Timberline is more than a building — it’s a living symbol of Oregon’s history and community spirit.

🎶 The Music of the Forest: Sometimes a Gift, Sometimes a Headache 🌲

In his latest Woodsman column, Steve Wilent reflects on how music — whether it’s Billie Holiday drifting from a VW van, a cello student in Cottonwood Canyon, or a rock band plugging into a restroom outlet — has a way of showing up in the wilderness.

🎻 Sometimes it's magical, like a violin echoing across a still lake.
🥁 Sometimes it's… less magical (looking at you, restroom-powered rock band).
🎧 And sometimes, it’s just Steve and his headphones, tuning into RPWL and tuning out the world.

From impromptu campsite jam sessions to concerts under the stars in Sunriver, Steve explores the delicate balance between harmony and noise in the great outdoors.

🏃‍♂️🏀 Parents: Don’t wait to schedule your child’s sports physical!

Sports physicals aren’t just a school requirement — they’re a vital step in keeping your child healthy, safe, and ready to play.

These pre-participation exams check heart health, joint strength, vision, past injuries, and more. They’re especially important for student-athletes with chronic conditions like asthma or diabetes.

Book early! Late-summer appointments fill up fast, and last-minute scrambling can delay your child’s start to the season.

🌟 Orchid Health offers no-cost sports physicals and can bill insurance if you’d like to include a full wellness check.

📞 Call (971) 333-0494 to schedule today and give your child a healthy head start for fall sports.
