It’s Open! Trillium Lake Boardwalk Reopens After Major Restoration! 🏞️🌲

Good news for Oregon hikers and nature lovers! The entire 1.9-mile loop trail and boardwalk at Trillium Lake are fully open again for the first time in several years!

The multi-season restoration project, led by the U.S. Forest Service and the National Forest Foundation, replaced deteriorating sections of the boardwalk with more durable materials. The new design is wider than 40 inches, making the iconic trail more accessible for visitors using wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers. They even added new viewing platforms!

Don't miss the chance to experience the uninterrupted, spectacular views of Mt. Hood on this renewed path.

🎣 The Angle Column: Is Your Preparation Holding Back Your Catch?

Fishing techniques are important, but columnist Lucas Holmgren argues that the most overlooked bait in any tackle box is preparation!

In his latest "The Angle" column, he dives into key factors that can either make or break your trip, especially here in the Northwest. He emphasizes:

Proper Outdoor Apparel: Layers, waterproof gear, and quality waders are essential for comfort and focus.

Fueling Your Body: Quality food and hydration beat the gas station burrito every time.

Choosing Your Co-Angler: Make sure your fishing partner is ready for the commitment level required for your specific trip (e.g., tough Steelhead wading vs. sunny bank fishing).

The clock is ticking for the Sandy High Music Foundation! 🎹⏰

The Sandy High Music Foundation is racing against time to keep a beautiful 9’ concert grand piano currently on loan from Michelle’s Pianos. The school’s current piano is 120 years old and ready for retirement, but if they can’t raise $16,500 by December 17, the new piano has to go back.

This instrument would serve generations of music students and the community for decades to come. Can we help them hit the high note before the deadline?

You Won't Believe the Size! Oregon Forager Hauls In a 24-Pound Mushroom! 🍄🤯

Talk about a big find! Jamie Simpson, an experienced forager who loves exploring local forests, just had a discovery of a lifetime. While on a low-yield mushroom hunt, he stumbled upon an enormous Cauliflower Mushroom near Castle Canyon.

Cauliflower mushrooms usually weigh about two pounds, with big ones topping out around ten... Jamie's weighed a staggering 24 pounds! Even veteran foragers called it the biggest they'd ever seen. For Jamie, the joy is in the hunt, and he quickly gave the pristine specimen away to his brother-in-law.

This is a truly heartwarming story of resilience and community support! For nearly 50 years, Brightwood resident Nathan Mills has lived with a four-inch difference in his leg length, causing chronic pain and requiring specialized care.

Despite writing off a correction procedure long ago, Nathan recently underwent surgery to lengthen his right leg! The biggest challenge? Being out of work for 4–6 months.

Watch how the community stepped up, raising over 90% of the $18,000 GoFundMe goal to help him and his wife through his recovery. It's a powerful reminder of how Oregon neighbors care for one another. Nathan says he looks forward to "walking on the beach with both feet on the sand" for the first time.
