🗞️ Legislative Update from Rep. Jeff Helfrich

As the session winds down, Representative Jeff Helfrich is proud to report on several key accomplishments for our district—like commemorating Friends of Timberline’s 50th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of Multnomah Falls Lodge. 🏔️🏞️

While a recent revenue forecast shows less available funding than anticipated, the state did take in nearly $4 billion more than the previous biennium. That makes it more important than ever to eliminate inefficiencies and make every dollar count.

With big votes ahead and tensions rising in Salem, Rep. Helfrich encourages all Oregonians to seek common ground and work together for real solutions.

The Rhododendron Water Association just received a $155,460 grant to reimburse the urgent 2021 project that protected the Henry Creek watershed—the only drinking water source for the town. 🌊

In a race against time, the all-volunteer board secured an agreement to prevent clear-cutting near the creek, protecting both the environment and the community's water quality. And now? Their debt is paid off — and they just won Best Tasting Surface Water in Oregon (again!). 🏆

“This is a huge moment for us,” said Steve Graeper, RWA president. “When the health of our water was on the line, our community acted fast.”

"We pay for up to three loads of laundry, provide detergent, hygiene items, and a free meal. Heather, the owner of Welches Laundromat, wanted to bring our free event to this rad community. Once we met her and saw the laundromat we knew it would be a perfect fit."

This marks the first successful bond measure in 50 years and will fund essential updates to aging facilities, safety improvements, and modernized learning environments across our campuses.

MHCC President Dr. Lisa Skari expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, “Together, we’ve made a once-in-a-generation investment in the future of this corner of Oregon.”
