The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has elevated Wellington Lake to a Warning status following recent water testing. This means a harmful algal bloom may be present and contact with the water could pose health risks. Wellington Lake remains open. Signs will be posted around the lake to show any activity restrictions.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to review KDHE safety guidance about harmful algal blooms and follow
recommended precautions. For more information, visit kdhe.ks.gov/HAB.

City staff will continue to monitor conditions closely. Based on ongoing testing by both local staff and KDHE, the City may take additional steps if needed, such as closing boat ramps or limiting water activities. In the meantime, the public should use caution and stay aware that lake conditions can change. For updates and more information, follow official City of Wellington communication channels.

STORM CLEANUP UPDATE: City crews have been hauling off trees & limbs from trees located in City rights-of-way/easements and other City properties. Several private companies
and volunteers graciously offered assistance in hauling away trees and limbs from private property.

The Public Works Department will evaluate the remaining debris mid-week to determine if the City will expand its efforts to private property.

The Compost Site will be open Tuesday noon to 4pm this week in addition to regular hours (Mondays- noon to 6pm, Wednesdays 8am to 1pm, Thursdays noon to 6pm & Saturdays 8am to 4pm).

The Public Works Department thanks the citizens and volunteers for the tremendous amount of help to make these cleanup efforts much easier.

What a week! 🍻

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has stopped by, shared a post, spread the word, and supported us during our first week. The turnout has been incredible, and we're truly grateful for the patience, encouragement, and understanding you've shown as we've worked through the inevitable bumps and learning curves that come with opening a new business.

Your support means the world to us, and we're excited to keep getting better every day.

Now it's time to celebrate! 🎉
