We’ve seen so many posts lately telling creators and brands that going viral can actually hurt their account.
So naturally, people are starting to become scared of… getting too many views?
Let’s talk about it.
There is some truth behind the concern.
A viral post can reach a much broader audience than your usual content, which means not everyone watching will be your ideal customer or follower.
But one viral Reel reaching outside your niche does not suddenly undo your entire content strategy.
Think about it this way: every new customer, follower or fan was part of your “cold audience” at some point.
Virality gives you an opportunity to reach people who may have never discovered your brand otherwise.
Some won’t stick around.
Others might become exactly the audience you were missing.
This is where the difference matters.
If every piece of content is created purely with the hope of going viral, you can quickly lose sight of who you’re actually trying to reach.
But if your overall strategy consistently speaks to your ideal audience?
You have room to experiment, be creative and occasionally create something outside of the box.
Create for your ideal audience. Stay true to your brand.
Have a strategy behind what you’re doing.
But don’t let the fear of reaching the “wrong” people make your content predictable.
Try the idea. Post the Reel. Experiment.
Virality isn’t the strategy.
But it can open doors you weren’t expecting.
