BNN is back with an all-new staff ready to bring news and views to the Blue Mountain community. This first piece was written by the entire Electronic Journalism class as a group project. The students worked hard over the last three weeks to learn all of the skills needed to 'birth' a story: ideating a story, ideating who to interview, interview questions, emailing potential people to interview, interviewing, analyzing an interview, sorting data, outlining, researching, writing, and revisions. We learned WHILE we created, and here is our first article of the new academic year.

On July 27, 2025 Phil Scott, Governor of Vermont, signed into law a cell phone ban affecting all Vermont schools. This ban was implemented because the Vermont legislature was concerned about Vermont students’ well being and education. This law will go into full effect by the 2026-2027 school year....

With the start of the new academic year, we have begun training our new BNN staff members, and you should expect to see new stories on our webpage https://bucksnewsbnn.org/ in just a few weeks. Last year, we published 131 pieces to that webpage which included: written articles, photos with captions, senior spotlights, opinion pieces, and video news packages. Some of those stories were also shared here on Facebook and on our Instagram page.
As a student-run news outlet, the stories posted are generally selected, reported on, and edited by students. Each semester brings in new students, with new ideas regarding what BNN should cover. One year, podcasting was all the rage, and we had several podcasts being published each week. Another year had a number of student-journalists interested in sports, so BMU athletics were well covered in both print and video formats. We look forward to seeing what this crop of new student-journalists will find interesting and newsworthy for the BMU community. As always, thank you to the community for your support of student journalism at Blue Mountain.
