The Pennsylvania State FFA awarded the Honorary Keystone Degree to Pam and Dale Harper and Ashley Shedden for their contributions to the agricultural community and support for the FFA.
The Honorary Keystone Degree is awarded to adults across the state who have offered their services to the agricultural community.
Over the years, Fairview Farm and Guest Ranch has hosted county FFA events such as livestock and horse evaluation. Their willingness to host these events has allowed members across Bradford County to acquire new skills and make countless memories. Dale, Pam, and Ashley have each offered their skills and talents to help put together these events, and their hard work has paid off.
Since Fairview Farm’s Horse Camp is in session, Pam, Dale, and Ashley were unable to attend the Pennsylvania State Convention to receive their awards in person, so FFA Advisor Tom Hojnowski and members Cheyanne Fitch and Alli Morgan honored them with a surprise presentation on Thursday, June 11th.
Pam Harper was, "Surprised, but very grateful, very happy, and very honored."
"I'm grateful too," shared Dale Harper. "It has been an experience and it’s always been a joy with all the things with the FFA, and not only here but throughout the county and the state that I’ve been allowed to help participate with whatever I can do. It’s a fun organization, keep it rolling. It’s a good thing, and we need good things in the schools.”
Their daughter Ashley Shedden expressed, “It’s an honor to work with FFA. I always enjoy just seeing all the kids. I love the fact that we can have a strong program in Bradford county, and [we] have between 70 and 100 kids each year when do the actual event here so I really love the fact that there’s a lot involved. Let’s do what we can to keep kids involved.”
