Big day today. 14 hrs in duration 10 hrs biking 111 miles @ 11 mph pace. Also crossed over into Arizona. One state down. Crazy what you can do!!

The last couple days has required me to walk my bike up some of steep grades on the hills. That has put a number on my legs hitting my Wawa pedals. Most of the time I don’t even realize it until I take a break. Just one of the many things I am learning about bike touring and life on the road.

Crossed the Tecata Divide today. Slow day with only 35 mile but did 3,400 in total accent. Downhills were not as easy either with sand, rock, and broken roadway I really had to keep it slow. Tomorrow I finish the mountains and get to the deserts. Every miles is a first for me so no matter the pace it is a great experience.

Day 2 - Road closure so I am waiting for official bus to take to the the next road about 4 miles up the mountain. Very clear beautiful day.

Had a tough ride today. The mountains got the best of me. I keep pushing though and even had to walk the bike up some of the steepest parts but I completed day 1. Duration of 10 hours with 3,400 feet of accent over 43.5 miles.
