No one tells you when you start a business that you’re basically just making it up as you go.

But along the way, there are certain milestones that make you feel a little more legitimate.

Some good. Some bad.

Your first paying client.

The first client who pays you what you’re actually worth.

Getting your website up and running.

Realizing that website sucks, and completely rebuilding  it.

Raising your prices… and someone still says yes.

Hiring an employee.

Laying off an employee.

Losing a client you thought would be with you forever.

Realizing they’re still your friend — it’s just business .

Investing in more camera gear.

Realizing gear is not what makes a good videographer.

Selling off some camera gear.

Investing in myself and my people.

Underbidding a job and losing money.

Overbidding a job and losing the job.

Winning the job.

Spending less time at home.

Spending more time at home.

I could go on forever, but over time, these moments add up until eventually, you stop feeling like you’re just making it up.

You’re just doing it.

And yesterday, we hit one of those milestones.

MEM Media officially reached 100 5-star Google reviews, making us the highest Google-reviewed video production company in the St. Louis area.

This one means a lot to us.

500 stars earned.
