Testing out a variety of AI programs for different image generation techniques… I asked AI to make me look younger, hotter and more photogenic, and it came back looking suspiciously like me. At this point, I’m not sure if I’m Rob Marish or AI Rob Marish pretending to be Rob Marish.

Local news matters. And in Philadelphia, it has helped shape generations of television people.

With Cecily Tynan retiring from 6abc, it got me thinking about just how many careers in our industry have roots inside Philadelphia’s local newsrooms.

I started as a high school intern at NBC10. The founders of Banyan Productions, where I later worked, came out of KYW Channel 3. And over the years, I’ve crossed paths with countless producers, photographers, editors, directors, technicians and talent who learned their craft at Channels 3, 6 and 10.

These stations don’t just deliver the news. They train people. They create careers. They connect us to our city. And they become part of the fabric of the communities they serve.

So while I’m wearing my Channel 6 shirt today, a special shoutout to Cecily Tynan for an incredible run and for being one of those familiar Philadelphia faces who became part of people’s lives.

Here’s to local news, the people behind it, and the next generation coming up through those newsrooms.

Screens Screens Screens!
LED walls are everywhere!
I’m stuck on a delay in the Orlando airport, and there’s this massive LED wall. Most people just see a big TV, but behind it is a whole system, the mapping, the processors, the content that’s all selling, educating, or entertaining.

Isn’t it wild how much tech hides behind something that looks so simple?
