This tarantula mother has spent weeks guarding this eggsac.

Among tarantula keepers, there’s a long-running debate:

Should the eggsac stay with the mother until she’s finished caring for it, or should it be removed and incubated artificially?

For those who breed tarantulas, what’s your approach and why? Do you trust the mother, or do you prefer to take over the process yourself?

For those who don’t breed or are just curious, I’ve pinned a comment outlining some of the common arguments for both approaches.

Would you assume this spider is AI-generated? Do you know someone who thinks everything is ai? Tag them in the comments!

This is a Blue Fang Skeleton Tarantula, Ephebopus cyanognathus, and those bright blue fangs are completely natural.

No filters. No special effects. No editing tricks.

Just one of the many examples of how strange and incredible the natural world can be.

What would you have guessed this was if nobody told you it was a spider?

I have literally 100+ molts and no time to even bother looking at them. Sometimes I get a new molt before I look at its old molt 😅 most I don’t even bother with 😂 unless I’m trying to find a male! There comes a point finding new males is more important than females for a breeder.

Millions of years of evolution vs. millions of years of not getting eaten.

In one corner: a massive Xenesthis sp. White, a patient ambush predator built for the perfect strike.

In the other: a Dubia lateralis roach whose ancestors have spent millions of years evolving ways to avoid becoming lunch.

The outcome was never really in doubt.

The method, however…

If you know, you know.

Every tarantula keeper knows the feeling.

You spend good money on a beautiful spider, set up the perfect enclosure, and create the perfect burrow…

Then spend months staring at an empty hole.

“There’s a Spider in There” is a song inspired by one of the most universal experiences in tarantula keeping.

Edit: full disclosure.. singing is AI, I wrote the song, filming and and editing is mine as well

You’ve probably seen a scorpion’s stinger before…

But have you ever seen its mouth?

What you’re watching are the scorpion’s chelicerae at work—tiny mouthparts that help turn prey into a meal.

Sometimes the most interesting details are the ones most people never notice.

What fictional character does this spider remind you of?

This is a male velvet spider (Gandanameno echinata), and that silver mask-like face is 100% natural.

I can see a dozen different answers.

Let’s hear yours.

Preparing my male Gandanameno echinata for pairing.

The silver face made the choice of audio inevitable.

“You will ride eternal. Shiny and chrome.”

Wish him luck.

Meet Hyllus walckenaeri.

One of the world’s largest jumping spider species… and possibly the world’s tiniest eight-legged puppy.

She came out to say hi, accepted a snack, and then refused to go back inside.

Tell me that isn’t puppy behavior.
