This morning, I quietly opened my son’s door just to turn off his fan — hoping not to wake him yet. It was a little chilly in there. But the moment I stretched my hand toward the fan, I heard a sleepy little voice say, “Dada.”
I smiled and told him in Ewe, “Dada is gone to work.”
Then I decided to go in and say good morning before leaving him to fully wake while I got things ready for work.
Before I could even say good morning, he softly said, “Get out.” Then again, “Get out.”
I couldn’t help but laugh a little. I asked, “Do you want me to get out?” He said, “Okay.” So I did.
A few minutes later, he called out to me.
Through the monitor, I asked, “Do you want Mommy to come back in? And in the sweetest sleepy voice, he said, “I do.” 💛
Motherhood really is this dance of holding close and letting go. Watching them grow in confidence and words, yet still needing you when it matters most.
Grateful for moments like this:the funny, tender, ordinary ones that quietly fill your heart.
