Aerie Literary Journal The University of Hartford's Literary Journal By definition, an “aerie” is a bird of prey’s nest, built on a high rock-face or treetop.

Aerie, the University of Hartford’s literary journal, is aptly named for giving its contributors a home on high, where voices come together to create shelter in an artistic community. When Aerie was first introduced to the University in 1996, it served as a venue for the English Department to publish winning pieces from the Department’s annual writing contest. This new literary magazine was run ex

clusively by faculty. Aerie did not exist in its current form until Volume 5 in 2001 when a student editorial board took the reigns. The magazine then began accepting submissions from all undergraduate students. Today, Aerie continues to incorporate professional quality art that contributes to its pleasing aesthetics and success. No longer is it a journal born from crude craftsmanship. With each passing year, Aerie editions continue to grow in polish, popularity, and elegance. The magazine itself now reflects the caliber and the diversity of its contents.

Don't miss the Cardin Reading and Aerie Raffle Drawing tomorrow at 12:15 in the Oscar Wilde Auditorium. Raffle tickets will be on sale at the door: $1 for 1 ticket and $5 for 7. Benjamin Grossberg, Teresa Stores, and Erin Striff will be reading!

Artists and writers are encouraged to bring some finished works to share with each other, though we'll have activities to help people find a fellow collaborator.
