CALLING ALL Q***R COMIC BOOK FANS…
Q Con is returning to WeHo.
More than 100 creators and cosplayers will descend on West Hollywood for the 5th Annual Q Con, Southern California’s only LGBTQIA+ comic convention. The event will take place at Plummer Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Q Con is part of the City of West Hollywood’s WeHo Pride 2026 arts and entertainment lineup.

Q Con provides pre-teens, teens, and adults with the opportunity to discover a wide variety of comics and graphic novels featuring LGBTQIA+ representation in one colorful and festive setting. Guests can meet comic creators, collect autographs, attend panels, showcase their cosplay pride in a safe and welcoming environment, and enter the popular all-ages cosplay contest for prizes and bragging rights.

Q Con is presented by Prism Comics, the nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting LGBTQIA+ diversity, equity, and inclusion in comic books, graphic novels, and popular media.

WeHo Bistro restaurant in West Hollywood reopened Monday after being shuttered for several days following a Los Angeles County health inspection that uncovered a cockroach infestation and multiple food safety violations. A “C” grading is still posted prominently on their storefront.

The restaurant, located at 1040 N. La Cienega Blvd., had been ordered closed since June 10 after inspectors with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health cited the establishment for a vermin infestation under California Health and Safety Code Section 114259.1, according to county health records.

Restaurant owner Jeff Douek addressed the closure in a statement posted on social media, apologizing to customers and accepting responsibility for the violations.

“We take this seriously and accept responsibility for correcting it,” Douek wrote. “Our guests place their trust in us every day, and we fell short of the standards they rightfully expect from us. For that, we are sincerely sorry.”

Douek said inspectors found evidence of vermin activity in and around a refrigeration unit, along with related issues that failed to meet county health standards.

Since the inspection, the restaurant has worked with its licensed pest-control provider to address the infestation, completed corrective treatments, and conducted an extensive deep cleaning of the facility, according to the statement.

The owner also said the restaurant has implemented additional preventative measures, including increased inspections of equipment and service areas, expanded pest-prevention protocols, and more frequent operational checks throughout the restaurant.

CONDRAGULATIONS!!!
The West Hollywood City Council approved the appointment of performer and community artist Odius Ari as the city’s next Drag Laureate Monday night. The move makes Ari the first drag king to hold the title in West Hollywood and the first known drag king to serve in an official drag laureate role anywhere in the world.

The Drag Laureate serves as an ambassador for West Hollywood, promoting the city through the art of drag performance while supporting arts, culture and community initiatives. The position includes a $15,000 annual honorarium and access to a separate $5,000 yearly travel stipend for appearances and collaborations outside the city.

Ari is best known for performing as a 103-year-old vaudevillian character, blending original music, comedy and storytelling inspired by early 20th-century performance traditions. Their performances often feature live instruments including accordion, banjo-ukulele, washboard and squeaky toys.

Ari has performed throughout Los Angeles and at numerous West Hollywood events, including Pride celebrations, Harvey Milk Day, Drag Story Hour and the city’s LGBTQ history programming.

Ari will serve a three-year term beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2029.
