Please welcome our next Studio Secrets A to Z guest, the brilliant Hugh Jones (Crewdson).
A musician, instrument builder, and all around creative innovator, Hugh’s work spans the full spectrum of sonic exploration.
Releasing music under the guise of Crewdson, Hughes has released two solo albums on Slowfoot Records and remixed for labels like Ninja Tune, Lo Recordings, Sunday Best, and Brownswood. He’s the right-hand man to the legendary Matthew Herbert - both onstage and behind the scenes - and now runs Herbert’s Accidental Records.
When he is not in the studio, Hugh lectures at Goldsmiths, University of London, composes music for fashion shows for designers like Paul Smith and Phoebe English, and tours as a stage tech for talents like Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich. His one-of-a-kind instruments - the Concertronica, Eggiophone, Sonic Bonnet, Weaver and Box of Uncertainty - push the boundaries of sound design, catching the attention of influential artists everywhere.
To hear more about Jones' journey and the process behind his sound, catch episode 104 of Studio Secrets A to Z - out next Tuesday (05.27th).
