False! Tornadoes can travel up and down hillsides, and are just as violent and dangerous. Living on a hill will not protect you from a tornado.

Damage that can be caused by a tornado can be pricey if you or your parent's insurance doesn't cover it. It could cost thousands of dollars in house damage, car damage, and things. If your insurance doesn't cover these things it could be hard to pay for. people all around the world that don't think tornadoes can do too much damage but, they can. An ACRE analysis estimated a cost of more than $224 million to repair roughly 3,900 damaged units and replace the 1,240 destroyed homes. Ways to stay out of danger when a tornado happens. Staying in a storm cellar is fine but, if the cellar is outside and the tornado is getting close to it you do not want to go to. Go to the basement or take shelter in a small interior ground floor room such as a bathroom, closet or hallway. If you have no basement, protect yourself by taking shelter under a heavy table, bath tub, or desk. In all cases, stay away from windows, outside walls and doors.
