Trauma can be passed down through generations, shaping behaviors, beliefs, and worldviews even in individuals who never directly experienced it. This is especially poignant in the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities, where historical events like colonization, immigration, and wars have left lasting imprints.

How can mental health professionals better understand and support AA and NHPI clients navigating intergenerational trauma?

We’re honored to announce our latest course featuring Dr. Anjuli Amin, PSY. In this session, Dr. Amin explores the complexities of intergenerational trauma, the impact of cultural values like collectivism, and how therapists can incorporate culturally resonant practices into their work. Gain actionable strategies to support clients in reclaiming resilience and healing from deeply rooted experiences.

As we reflect on yesterday’s Trans Day of Remembrance, we acknowledge the growing challenges that the gender expansive community faces, especially in a time when many are experiencing increased threats to their rights, care, and safety. This makes it even more crucial for mental health professionals to be equipped to support their transgender clients with compassion and knowledge.

A study published in JAMA Network Open reports that over 12,800 gender-affirming surgeries were performed in the U.S. in 2020, reflecting a significant rise from 4,552 surgeries in 2016 and underscoring the growing demand for this critical aspect of transgender healthcare.

How can mental health professionals more effectively support clients through the emotional, logistical, and social aspects of surgical transition?

In this new on-demand podcast CE course, gender therapy expert Zander Keig, LCSW, explores the key stages of pre-surgical preparation, covering emotional readiness, navigating insurance challenges, logistical considerations, and offering post-operative support. Equip yourself with the skills to guide and empower your clients through this step in their journey.

Thank you for your dedication to supporting the gender expansive community. We hope this course enhances your skills and deepens your ability to provide knowledgeable and affirming care.

This is not an easy time to be a therapist… we're tasked with holding a lot right now, in such an intensely polarized time. We're bombarded with pundits and proclamations… it's easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged.

This course offers clinicians practical tools to bridge divides, support clients (and ourselves) in polarized times, and build resilience and understanding through challenges. No matter your beliefs, this interview is a must-listen.

Dr. Israel's message bring so much grounding, clarity, and hope, and we felt compelled to offer this episode with free CE credit. Join us to learn practical tools that empower you to make a meaningful difference for clients navigating today's complex socio-political landscape.

The past 72 hours have brought an emotional intensity that’s hard to describe. For therapists, holding space for clients can feel especially challenging when we ourselves may be carrying big feelings, perhaps much different from those of our clients.

How can we, as mental health professionals, support clients through these intense times without compromising our well-being or the quality of our care?

In this new on-demand podcast CE course, recorded just two days ago with returning guest Dr. Dain Kloner, LMFT, we explore practical strategies for recognizing and managing burnout, as well as navigating delicate socio-political dynamics in the therapy room. This course examines the influence of macro-level socio-political issues on therapists’ well-being and provides practical techniques for self-care, boundary-setting, and fostering resilience. Dr. Kloner also discusses methods to manage personal biases, avoid over-identification with clients, and maintain therapeutically-focused, ethically-minded care, helping clinicians effectively support clients of similar and differing perspectives while preserving our own mental health.

We’re grateful to Dr. Kloner for joining us in this important conversation, and there is much more to explore on this topic.

In our newest on-demand podcast episode/CE course, Julia Kristina, RCC, discusses the nuances of boundary-setting, providing actionable strategies for clinicians to support clients in creating boundaries that foster well-being and resilience. This course covers various types of boundaries, including physical, emotional, and intellectual, with an emphasis on cultural and systemic considerations.

Cultural and historical influences play a significant role in how individuals perceive and express physical and emotional pain, and also how providers respond and relate to pain in our clients.

How can mental health professionals better understand and address the impact of these narratives to improve client care and healing?

In our latest on-demand podcast course, returning guest La Shanda Sugg, LPC, explores how cultural norms and personal histories shape our relationship with pain. You'll learn practical strategies to help clients identify their pain and understand how their relationship to it has been shaped by their cultural lens. We all have an internal dialogue— a voice within us that can either uplift or tear us down. Many of us are familiar with that inner critic, constantly shouting in our minds and making us feel worse. As therapists, we’ve also witnessed firsthand how this voice affects our clients.

How can IFS help your clients unlock their core "Self" and guide them toward deeper healing?

Our newest on-demand podcast CE course features Dr. Beth Mullen-Houser diving into the key concepts of Internal Family Systems (IFS), focusing on parts, the power of the compassionate "Self," and how to use the unburdening process to support clients in healing from trauma. This course also explains how IFS perspectives can complement and enhance other therapeutic models, and how IFS perspectives can be used to help clinicians understand and manage their own feelings in session.

Whether you're new to IFS or looking to deepen your understanding, this episode is packed with actionable insights and transformative ideas. We hope this is helpful for you.
