The 3rd Annual Hero Hayes Open Mat is on Saturday, September 6th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the West Monroe Sports & Events Center (875 Constitution Drive, West Monroe, LA).

This event is held in memory of Hayes Tyler Crawford, a bright and loving 9-year-old whose life continues to inspire kindness and community. Hayes had a passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and this day celebrates both the sport he loved and the way he lived—with courage, joy, and love for others.

The Open Mat is for the whole family. All ranks are welcome to roll—from beginners to black belts—but if you don’t roll, that’s okay! Come cheer from the sidelines, enjoy $10 plate lunches, face painting, and a bounce house, and spend the day supporting a great cause.

🎟 Early bird tickets end August 30th—tickets will be $5 more at the door. Kids 4 & under are free.

We are beyond excited to share our upcoming September edition that will be hitting mailboxes any day now! The Children’s Museum of North Louisiana is a staple in our community and isn’t just a museum—it’s an adventure, a spark, and a safe place where children and their families can discover, play, and dream big. 💡💫

But that’s not all—their impact goes far beyond its walls! They’re bringing STEM programs to 10 parishes across Northeast Louisiana and fundraising for a brand-new building that will inspire even more imagination for years to come.
