Thousands of Haitian families in South Florida are facing uncertainty as Temporary Protected Status expires Feb. 3
More than 300,000 people nationwide could be impacted if protections aren't extended. Many have been in the US for 15 years since Haiti's devastating 2010 earthquake.
"I fear for my people," says local advocate Jennifer Jones, who notes that even US citizens can't safely return to Haiti due to gang violence and instability.
With just days left, a federal judge is expected to decide whether to suspend the termination by Feb. 2.
Immigration attorney Philip Brutus warns: "For a lot of these people, there's not much hope."
